Bengali sweets are are famous all over the country. It is not just the GI tagged rosogolla that creates a distinct identity for Bengal, there are many more, that the artisans of Bengal indigenously produce which makes the state stand apart in the sweet manufacturing industry. Products that are unknown to many. Be it shorbhaja, ladykeni, kalojam, mihidana, sitabhog etc may precisely be designated as the jewels of Bengal and are responsible for adding extra feathers in the hat of achievements.
When we talk of sweet shops in Kolkata, all the popular names, particularly the shops that occupy the lion's share in the market, come to our mind as quick as a wink . Balaram Mullick and Radharaman Mullick, Girish Chandra Dey and Nakur Chandra Nandi, Bancharam etc may be some of them. An Unexplored shop in North Kolkata, precisely in bagbazar street, Kalika Mistanna Bhandar maybe one of those shops that sweet lovers would definitely want to visit. I had the opportunity of visiting this shop quite a number of times and it has never ever disappointed me in anyway.

2) Khuromohashoi , Tarak Pramanick Road
A very old sweet shop located in the Northern part of Kolkata precisely, the Tarak Pramanik Road, Khuromohashoi is a heritage sweet shop in Kolkata unknown to many. Honestly speaking this shop might be a little difficult to find , but if I am given the Liberty to explain it to someone , I would simply say that it is located just behind the park where the famous Durga Puja of Shimla Beyam samiti is held.
I have had the golden opportunity of visiting this particular shop a number of times and to my surprise it was able to satisfy my tastebuds each and every time. The price at which sweets are sold in this shop is unparalleled, a phenomena that is hard to find in Kolkata these days.

1) Bhabatarini Sweets, Hati Bagan
A very famous sweet meat shop established in the year 1952, in the hatibagan region of Kolkata . This particular food sweet shop is known for using high quality cow milk in manufacturing all its products and is famous for different variants of rosogolla.
